Painting on Wood #2

I just tried something out. It's very abstract and rather strict. I see it as an experiment to know how to apply the paints in such a way that the barriers between background and foreground are very accurate.

Those are the 2 outcomes with different colors and I have to admit that I'm not satisfied with the outcome. It's "too busy" and the mixture of colors is not what looks very appealing. But as a creator you are always the hardest referee for your own creations.

Abstract Wood #3
43 x 29 cm

Not satisfied with the outcome I wanted to see the effect with just a little amount of colors, following the zen adagio "better by means of less". The following 2 wooden paintings are the result.

Abstract Wood #4
40 x 8,5 cm

I must say that I'm very satisfied with this one. I don't know why. Maybe because I like the color "blue" and of course the 4 layers (almost invisible) and the transparency of the layers.

Abstract Wood #5
31,5 x 8 cm

I'm also satisfied with this one. The picture doesn't give an accurate view. If you see it directly with your own eyes it is brighter. The mixture of black and red is always appealing, by the way the reason why many Chinese and Japanese paintings do have - apart from white of course - those 2 colors: black ink and red stamp.

New Painting on Wood

I just made this painting on wood (gesso and acryl) and I think I will evolve more and more in this direction.
